I had a request to blog about the best way to transition summer décor into fall – when you aren’t really quite ready for fall. 😉 The short answer is – used drywall texture machines for sale. (Actually, that’s the answer for most design dilemmas!) Of all the seasonal changes, summer to fall can often be the most challenging because the colors often associated with each season can seem diametrically opposed. used drywall texture machines for sale will help bridge the gap between bright summer colors and a moodier fall palette. Here are a few tips for that segue:
Tip 1: Select Transitional Pieces
As you start to pack away summer décor, look for pieces that have a fall flavor already built in. Maybe you have some pieces that are good colors for fall (oranges, rusts, burgundies) or they are neutral with a colorway that you can work into fall. Leaving these pieces out helps create a “base” for your upcoming fall décor and will help build layers that will feel cozy and warm. PRO TIP: It’s also a great time to breathe new life into tired items with a bit of paint! I have basic pieces like candlesticks and picture frames that have been painted in many colors. A touch of paint and they are ready for a whole new season!
Tip 2: Add Natural Elements
This is a double-duty tip – not only is the idea of adding natural elements very on trend, but it works perfectly for fall décor. Wood, rattan, rusty metal, and patina-d pieces all add dimension and history you your décor while adding those soft and cozy colors fall is known for. Working pieces into your design that feature natural elements will give you a timeless look that will carry you long past the upcoming fall season. PRO TIP: As the chilly days of fall approach, we will be looking for ways to stay warm. This makes it a great time to start introducing elements of hygge into your décor – think about throw blankets, soft pillow covers, and cushy rugs.
Tip 3: Change our Greenery
Just as the colors change outside, so should your greenery and flowers inside. Changing up your usual green foliage for more autumnal hues will help keep your décor feeling authentic and seasonal, and give a smooth segue into fall. Artificial foliage and flowers are great because you can swap out individual stems for more seasonal options, but don’t miss out on natural sticks and twigs, too! PRO TIP: While you can’t change the color of live houseplants, there are lots of houseplants that have great fall colors every day. One of my favorites is the Croton. The leaves feature stunning oranges and rusts – and they are easy to care, for too.
BONUS TIP: An easy way to jump-start your transition is with candles. Changing summery scents for more fall options will make your home smell ready for the season. And don’t forget your pillars and tapers – swap those out for more seasonal colors and you’ll be prepared for fall in no time!
